Your picture with a kindly sentiment makes the most charming Christmas Card

A neat little ad that I spotted on the top left corner of the front page of Christchurch newspaper The Press, from 5 December, 1913.

I do love Papers Past, because it allows for the serendipitous discovery of stuff like the above, as well as serious historical research. And, of course, the web being what it is, it doesn’t take long for me to follow the rabbit hole even further and find out all about Christchurch photographer Steffano Webb via a dedicated blog. Super.

And all of this serves to remind me: I really ought to get to work in finding some suitable scenes from my recent photographs to use as charming, seasonable sentiments. Probably not just a portrait of me though, to be honest.
